Nachdem sie sich auf
ihrem
Debütalbum
der glamourösen Welt
der Models und Laufstege gewidmet hatte,
begibt sich Elena Alice
Fossi, den meisten
sicherlich als Sängerin der italienischen
Kult-Band Kirlian Camera wohl bekannt,
jetzt mit ihrer Band
SPECTRA*paris
auf
eine Action-geladene
Reise nach Tinseltown
auf „License To Kill“!
„Das neue Album ist
wie ein Film, der aus
Episoden, die alle von
verschiedenen Regisseuren stammen, besteht, und die Musik von SPECTRA*paris ist
das Bindeglied, das alles zusammenhält“, erklärt Elena. Der Albumtitel, sowie diverse Tracks auf dem Album, sind eine musikalische Verbeugung vor dem wohl bekanntesten Geheimagenten
der Filmgeschichte, James Bond, der Elena schon ihr ganzes
Leben fasziniert hat: „Bond ist ja nicht nur eine Spionage-Saga,
sondern auch eine Kombination aus Glamour, Technologie und
Action, die auf jemanden wie mich, den die ‚ästhetische Seite‘
der Technik interessiert, absolut anziehend wirkt. Außerdem
muss ich mich als Musiker einfach vor den tollen Arrangements
und kreativen Ideen, die Musikgeschichte geschrieben haben,
verneigen.“ Die Single „Carrie Satan“, hingegen, bezieht sich auf
den bekannten Stephen-King-Roman und seine geniale Verfilmung durch Brian de Palma. Elena erzählt: „Auf unserem traurigen Planeten ist jemand wie Carrie ein Siegertyp. Nachdem
sie versucht hat, ein gutes Mädchen zu sein, und dafür immer
getreten wurde, wurde sie zu einer eisigen Faust, beängstigend
und mächtig. Sie ist ein Symbol dafür, wie man in einer leeren
Welt, die gerade weder wirklichen Spaß noch Leiden erlebt, die
Dinge auf eine andere Art angehen kann und könnte daher die
Heldin sein, die alles in Ordnung bringt. Musikalisch wird das
durch die Kombination einer beängstigenden Grundstimmung
mit einem leichten Rhythmus, der zum Tanzen oder Mitwippen
anregt, umgesetzt.“ SPECTRA*paris
arbeiten auch an einem Videoclip zu
dem Song, zu dem Elena nur soviel
verrät: „Da ich gerade an einer Serie
von Comics zu den einzelnen Charakteren auf dem Album arbeite, wird
meine Comic-Carrie wohl sehr wahrscheinlich einen Auftritt bekommen.“
„License To Kill“ wird als reguläre CD,
sowie als limitiertes Box Set erscheinen, das, neben diversen exklusiven
Extras, auch eine Clubmitglieder-Audiokarte enthalten wird. „Mit der Karte
wirst du automatisch Clubmitglied und
bekommst Rabatte und andere Privilegien, die wir noch ankündigen werden.
Die Karte ist eine Shape-CD mit einem
brandneuen Track, der das Titelthema
für den SPECTRA*paris-Club ist“, verrät uns Elena mit einen Lächeln. Man

After tackling the glamourous world of models,
catwalks and Haute Couture, Elena Alice Fossi,
whom most of you will
most probably know as the
vocalist of Italian cult band
Kirlian Camera, is now on
o n
a hot ride down the fast lane to
Tinsel Town with “License To Kill”, the second
outing of her band project SPECTRA*paris. “The
new album is like a movie consisting of episodes
made by different directors, with SPECTRA*paris
becoming the ‘conceptual adhesive.’ It is like a
theater play that takes characters from different
situations”, Elena explains. The album title as
well as some of the sonic episodes from the album show strong nods toward the James-Bondmovie-series. Which isn’t a coincidence, as these
films have fascinated Elena all her life: “The
James Bond films aren’t a mere spy-movie saga,
as 007 is glamour, technology and action, which
is absolutely fascinating for a spectator like me,
who loves the ‘aesthetic side’ of technology.
Moreover, as a musician, I couldn’t avoid appreciating the creative minds and the orchestral
arrangements from those soundtracks that have
made music history.” The album’s single “Carrie Satan” pays hommage to the Stephen-Kingclassic, which has been adapted into a seminal
horror flick by Brian de Palma. For Elena, Carrie
is the winning type in our times of sorrow: “On
our sorrowful planet, Carrie would definitely be
the winner. She became something terrifying
and powerful like an icy fist after trying to be
a good girl and always being put down for it.
She is like a symbol for realizing that one has
to face things in life a different way. The world
is not facing its golden hour, at the moment,
it’s not having any real fun and it’s not suffering enough, either... it is just a non-stop guest
of emptiness. Carrie could be the character that
gets things back into order. The music reflects
that in combining a frightening situation with a light rhythm that makes
you want to tap your feet and dance.”
SPECTRA*paris will also be filming a
video clip for “Carrie Satan”, soon, of
which Elena reveals: “As I am working
on some comics relating to different
characters on the album, I will probably give my Cartoon-Carrie a slot
in the clip.” “License To Kill” will be
released as a regular edition and a
box set, containing, among exclusive
other goodies, a club membership
audio card. Elena explains: “It will be
a specially shaped CD that contains
a brand-new track that is a sort of
theme tune for the club membership.
Members will be receiving discounts
on our merchandise and other privileges yet to be revealed.”
