Das Festival Europäische Kirchenmusik Schwäbisch Gmünd fördert zeitgenössische geistliche Musik durch die Vergabe von Auftragskompositionen und einen Kompositionswettbewerb im jährlichen Wechsel. Für das Jahr 2016 wird der 13. Kompositionswettbewerb
ausgeschrieben. Als Preisgeld wird ein Betrag von EUR 2.000 zur Verfügung gestellt.
To promote contemporary sacred music the „Festival European Sacred Music Schwaebisch Gmuend“ (Germany) organizes every two years
a competition of composing alternating with ordering a composition by a chosen composer. For the year 2016 the festival organizes the
13th Competition of Composing and provides a prize of 2,000 EUR.
Aufgabe
object of the competition
1. Zum Festivalthema 2016 „Als Mann und Frau“ soll eine Komposition im Bereich Popularmusik für folgende Besetzung geschaffen werden:
Gesang (Mezzosopran) mit kleiner Instrumentalbegleitung (z.B. piano, bass, percussion). Die Aufführungsdauer soll 5 – 10 Minuten betragen.
For the theme of the 2016 festival „Male and female“ a work in the field of popular music has to be composed for vocals (mezzo-soprano) and
small instrumental group (f. e. piano, bass, percussion). The work should take 5 – 10 minutes to perform.
2.Das Werk muss folgende Texte (deutsch oder englisch) ganz oder in Teilen vertonen oder sich klar erkennbar daran anlehnen:
The work has to set words of the following texts (German or English) into music or at least has to be inspired clearly by them:
„Ihr seid alle durch den Glauben Kinder Gottes in Christus Jesus. (…) Es gibt nicht mehr Juden und Griechen, nicht Sklaven und Freie,
nicht Mann und Frau; denn ihr alle seid eins in Christus Jesus.“ (Paulus, Brief an die Galater 3, 26.28, Einheitsübersetzung)

3.Das von der Jury prämierte Werk soll im Schlussgottesdienst des Festivals am Sonntag, 7. August 2016, mit Barbara Bürkle (Mezzosopran)
uraufgeführt werden.
The work chosen by the jury will be first performed in the festival closing service on Sunday, August 7, 2016, by the singer Barbara Buerkle
(mezzo-soprano).

2.Die Partituren werden der Jury anonym vorgelegt. Die Entscheidung der Jury ist unanfechtbar. Der Rechtsweg ist ausgeschlossen.
The scores will anonymously be presented to the jury. The decisions of the jury are irrevocable. Any juridical contestation against the decisions
of the jury is not admissible.
3.Die Jury kann den Preis auch teilen oder auf eine Preisvergabe verzichten.
The jury has the right to split the prize or not to give the prize.
Te i l n a h m e b e d i n g u n g e n
conditions of participation
1. Teilnahmeberechtigt sind Komponistinnen und Komponisten jeder Nationalität und jeden Alters.
The competition is open to all composers of any age and nationality.
2.Es dürfen nur Kompositionen eingereicht werden, die bislang weder aufgeführt noch veröffentlicht worden sind.
Only works may be handed in which have neither been performed nor published to date.
3.Jeder Teilnehmende darf nur eine Komposition einreichen.
Every participant is allowed to hand in only one composition.
4.Ehemalige Preisträger sind von der Teilnahme am Wettbewerb ausgeschlossen.
Former prize-winners are not allowed to participate in the competition.
5. Die teilnehmenden Komponisten übertragen dem Veranstalter das Recht zur Uraufführung des prämierten Werkes beim
Schlussgottesdienst des „Festival Europäische Kirchenmusik“ am 7. August 2016 und stellen das Aufführungsmaterial unentgeltlich
und frei von Rechten Dritter zur Verfügung.
The participating composers vest the organizer with the rights for the first performance during the final service of the „Festival European
Sacred Music“ the 7th August 2016. They provide the music scores free of cost and guarantee the performance without any rights of a
third party.
6. Die Noten sind in gut leserlicher Form in fünffacher Ausfertigung einzusenden. Eine Namensnennung oder Signierung auf den Noten
darf nicht erfolgen. Angaben zum Komponisten (Name, Adresse, Telefon, E-Mail) sind in einem verschlossenen Briefumschlag der
Sendung beizulegen. Eine mp3-Aufnahme kann beigefügt werden.
The easy readable scores have to be sent in anonymously in five copies, not marked or signed by the author. Information about the
composer (name, address, phone number, e-mail) has to be enclosed in a closed envelope. A mp3 recording may be added.
7. Die Teilnehmer werden über den Ausgang des Wettbewerbs informiert und erhalten ein Exemplar der eingesandten Noten zurück.
The participants will be informed about the decision of the competition and will receive one copy of the scores back.
8. Die Kompositionen sind bis spätestens 7. März 2016 (Poststempel) fünffach zu senden an:
