The future
There are two (main) ways of talking
about the future!
• You can simply use the Present Tense, e.g.
• German: Ich fahre nächstes Jahr nach Deutschland.
English: I am travelling to Germany next year.
or
• You use the proper Future Tense. Just take the correct form of
the verb ‘werden’ and put the infinitive at the end of the
sentence. Simple!!!!
• German: Ich werde nächstes Jahr nach Deutschland fahren
English: I will travel to Germany next year.
Achtung!
The German ‘Ich will’
does NOT mean ‘I
will’!
It means ‘I want to’ –
completely different
thing altogether!

The proper Future Tense is formed
in the same way as you would
construct a sentence using a modal
verb, (e.g. I would like to…, I want to.., I have to…. etc.).
Just replace ‘Ich werde’ with e.g.
‘Ich möchte’ or ‘Ich will’ and you’ve
done it.
