Die Schaltung ist in konventioneller Technik mit linearer Längsregelung ausgeführt. Insgesamt sind 3 erdfreie und voneinander unabhängige Spannungen mit einer Gesamtleistung von max. 25W entnehmbar. Letzterer ist vor allem für Versuche mit der Versorgung von TTL- und ECL-Bausteinen interessant. Die Strombegrenzung für beide 20V Bereiche ist stufenlos einstellbar. Der Übergang von Spannungs- auf Stromregelung erfolgt automatisch und wird durch eine LED angezeigt. Die 3-stellige Digitalanzeige ist von Spannungs- auf Strommessung umschaltbar. Alle Ausgänge lassen sich per Tastendruck gemeinsam an- und abschalten. Der Serien- oder Parallelbetrieb ist mit allen Spannungen möglich. Neben geringer Restwelligkeit und gutem Regelverhalten besitzt das HM8040-2 alle Sicherungseinrichtungen, die für einen problemlosen Betrieb notwendig sind. Das HM8040-2 bietet sehr gute Qualität bei optimalem Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis und ergänzt das Modular-System in idealer Weise. This power source is widely used in technical schools and educational institutions. The HM8040-2 is a conventionally designed, linear series regulator configuration that assures low noise power output. Three floating output voltages supply a maximum power of 25 Watts. Two continuously variable outputs of 0 to 20V are combined with a 5.0V output that is adjustable ±0.5V. This is an excellent feature when working with digital logic circuitry, such as TTL or ECL. Current limiting for both 20V ranges is continuously adjustable. The transition from voltage control to current control is automatic and indicated by LEDs. Each 3 digit display is switchable to display either voltage or current. All outputs can be switched ON / OFF simultaneously via a push button switch, which permits voltage value set up while the output is switched off. Series or parallel configuration is possible between all of the three floating outputs. Excellent line and load regulation is provided in addition to low residual ripple and noise. There is suitable protective circuitry for all of the power outputs. The HM8040-2 is another proof for the low cost alternative and flexibility of the HM8000 Series Modular System.
