Das Sir Peter Ustinov Institut zur Erforschung und Bekämpfung von Vorurteilen
schreibt auf Empfehlung seines wissenschaftlichen Beirats die
Sir Peter Ustinov Gastprofessur der Stadt Wien 2017 an der Universität
Wienöffentlich aus.
Zur Bewerbung eingeladen sind Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftler aus allen
Disziplinen (Voraussetzung ist Habilitation oder gleichzuhaltende Qualifikation), die sich
nachweislich mit dem Themenkreis Vorurteile und Migration befasst haben:

Was hat sich seit der großen Fluchtbewegung im Sommer 2015 im Umgang in Bezug
auf den Umgang mit Zuwanderern verändert (sowohl von öffentlicher als auch von
Seiten der Zivilgesellschaft, sowohl auf nationalstaatlicher als auch auf europäischer
Ebene)?

Was lässt sich über die Bemühungen um die Integration der Geflüchteten sagen,
insbesondere im Schulbereich und auf dem Arbeitsmarkt?

Gibt es neue Ansätze für die politische und kulturelle Partizipation und Inklusion von
(Noch-)Nicht-StaatsbürgerInnen?

Wie gehen Geflüchtete und Einheimische mit Vorurteilen und enttäuschten
Erwartungen um?

Wie haben sich die Diaspora-Gemeinschaften und -strukturen entwickelt?

Welche Rolle spielten Migrationen im Europa des 20. Jahrhunderts? Lassen sich daraus
Lehren für die Gegenwart ziehen?
Die Bewerberinnen und Bewerber sollen diese Fragen disziplinübergreifend
behandeln und im Rahmen öffentlicher Vorlesungen sowie eines Seminars an der Universität
Wien im Sommersemester 2017 (1.3.2017-30.6.2017) oder im
Wintersemester 2017/18 (1.10.2017-31.1.2018) an Studierende und andere
Interessierte vermitteln. Die Lehrveranstaltungen können in deutscher oder
englischer Sprache gehalten werden.

ein konkreter Vorschlag für die Umsetzung des ausgeschriebenen Themas in je zwölf
Lehrveranstaltungseinheiten (Vorlesung 2 Wochenstunden und Seminar 2
Wochenstunden) im Umfang von ca. 4.000 Zeichen. Die Vorlesungen sind öffentlich
zugänglich.
Über die Dotierung gibt das Sir Peter Ustinov Institut Auskunft.
Die Universität Wien strebt eine Erhöhung des Frauenanteils insbesondere in
Leitungsfunktionen und beim Wissenschaftlichen Personal an und fordert deshalb qualifizierte

Vienna 2017 at the University of Vienna
At the recommendation of its academic advisory council, the Sir Peter Ustinov
Institute for Prejudice Research and Prevention publicly announces the Sir Peter Ustinov
Visiting Professorship of the City of Vienna 2017 at the University of Vienna.
Researchers from all disciplines (habilitation or equivalent qualification is required) who have
evidently dealt with the subject area of Prejudice and Migration are invited to submit their
applications. Crucial aspects include:

What changes in dealing with migrants can be observed in the wake of theextensive
refugee movement originating in the summer of 2015 (in the public sphere as well as
in civil society and on both national and European levels)?

What can be said about the efforts to integrate refugees, particularly as far as the
education sector and the labor market are concerned?

Are there new approaches to political and cultural participation and inclusion of “non
(not-yet) citizens“?

How do refugees and natives deal with prejudice and dashed expectations?

How have diaspora communities and structures developed?

What role did migration play in 20th century Europe? What lessons can be drawn for
the present?
The candidates should address these issues transdisciplinarily within the framework of public
lectures as well as a seminar at the University of Vienna in the summer semester of 2017
(1/3/2017 – 30/6/2017) or in the winter semester of 2017/18 (1/10/2017 –31/1/2018) to
students and other interested parties. The lectures and seminar can be held in German or
English.

A specific proposal for the realization of the announced subject within 12course units
(2 hours per week for the lecture and seminar, respectively)totalling approx. 4.000
figures. The lectures will be publicly accessible.Information on the remuneration will
be provided by the Sir Peter Ustinov Institute.
The University of Vienna intends to increase the proportion of women in leading
positions and among its faculty members and thus specifically encourages qualified women to
