Methods: Basis for the generation of a diagnostic path is the structural analysis of present pathological reports. The text input from the Virtual Microscope is transferred into an SQL server database. Formatted in XML, the data is then transmitted to the report compiler, which processes the information to construct the examination path. Results: The developed report compiler generates a Health Level Seven (HL7) compatible XML document. By integration of the information about the examination path (x/y coordinates, time differences) and their synchronization to the pathological report, the complete diagnostic path can be represented to any case. The diagnostic path functionality was integrated into the user interface of the Digital Virtual Microscope. bevorzugt als Vortrag Poster Titel in Deutsch (für das Conclusions: The integration of the diagnostic path functionality represents a valuable extension of the Virtual Microscope. The recording of the diagnostic path offers the possibility to find pathological structures in histological slides as described in the report. This application opens up new possibilities in teaching, quality assurance and telepathology Programmheft) Implementierung der Funktionalität zur Erstellung pathologischer Befunde mit integriertem diagnostischem Pfad in das Digitale Virtuelle Mikroskop Vortragsanmeldung bis spätestens 31.
