Chia Chou (Vorsitz)
Geboren in Tawain, aufgewachsen in Kanada. Erster öffentlicher Auftritt
bereits mit sieben Jahren. Ausbildung zum Pianisten und Konzertexamen bei
Lieselotte Gierth an der Musikhochschule Stuttgart. Bereits während seines
Studiums Gewinner Erster Preise: Mendelssohn-Wettbewerb in Berlin und
Sydney International Piano Competition. Konzerte in Europa, Australien,
Neuseeland, Kanada, dem Fernen Osten und den USA. Einladung durch
Rudolf Serkin zum Marlboro Music Festival. Bronzemedaille beim Concours
Reine Elisabeth in Brüssel. 1984 Auftritt mit dem Los Angeles Philharmonic
Orchestra bei den Abschlusskonzerten der Olympischen Spiele. In
Deutschland Konzerte unter Dirigenten wie James Conlon, Charles Dutoit, Karl
Münchinger und Edmond de Stoutz, mit Orchestern wie der Weimarer
Staatskapelle, den Düsseldorfer Symphonikern, dem Radio-Sinfonieorchester Stuttgart und dem
Kölner Gürzenich Orchester.
Seit 1990 Mitglied des „Trio Parnassus“, das von der Zeitschrift „Classic CD“ in die Liste der drei
international führenden Klaviertrios aufgenommen wurde. 2001 Auszeichnung des Trios durch die
Deutsche Phono-Akademie mit dem Preis „Echo Klassik“. 2006 „Preis der Deutschen
Schallplattenkritik“ für die CD-Einspielung „Klavierquartett op. 47“ und „Klavierquartett c-Moll (1829)“
von Robert Schumann. 2008 wurde dem „Trio Parnassus“ zum zweiten Mal der „Echo Klassik“ Preis
verliehen – für die Aufnahmen des „Klaviertrio op. 1“ sowie der „Suite op. 23“ von Erich Wolfgang
Korngold.
Seit 2004 ist Chia Chou Professor für Kammermusik-Klavier an der Kunstuniversität Graz.

Born in Taiwan, grown up in Canada. First public performance already at the

Bronze medal winner of the Concours Reine Elisabeth in Brussels. In 1984 he
played with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra at the Olympic Games‘
final concerts. In Germany, concerts with conductors such as James Conlon,
Charles Dutoit, Karl Münchinger and Edmond de Stoutz, with orchestras like
the Weimarer Staatskapelle, the Düsseldorfer Symphoniker, the Radio
Symphony Orchestra Stuttgart and the Cologne-based Gürzenich Orchestra.

„Echo Klassik“ by the German Phono Academy. In 2006 they won the German Record Critics‘ Award
for the CD recording „Klavierquartett op. 47“ and „Klavierquartett C minor (1829)“ by Robert
Schumann. In 2008 they were again awarded the German Record Critics‘ Award. In 2008, the „Trio
Parnassus“ was awarded the „Echo Klassik“ for the second time for their recording of „Klaviertrio op.
1“ and of „Suite op. 23“ by Erich Wolfgang Korngold.
Since 2004 Chia Chou has been Professor of Chamber Music – Piano at the University of Music and
Performing Arts Graz.
