Es spiegelt die ganze Bandbreite der Architektur: Geschichtlichkeit ebenso wie Zukunftsorientierung, Handwerkskunst wie technologischen Fortschritt – Konvention und Innovation, Technik und Kunst, Tradition und Avantgarde. Die KME Germany AG hat sich mit dem TECU® ARCHITECTURE AWARD 2007 wieder der Herausforderung gestellt, in der Zusammenarbeit mit Architekten neue Ansätze der Architektur nicht nur zu ermöglichen und zu begleiten, sondern auch zu fördern. Europaweit waren wieder Architekten und Architekturstudenten dazu aufgerufen, ihre in Verbindung mit Produkten der Marke TECU® realisierten Bauten und ausgearbeiteten Studienprojekte im TECU® ARCHITECTURE AWARD 2007 einzureichen. Die Resonanz war erfreulicherweise noch größer als beim letzten gleichnamigen Wettbewerb im Jahr 2005. Die eingereichten Arbeiten beeindruckten die Jury durch hohe Qualität und enorme Vielseitigkeit. Insgesamt gingen 157 Wettbewerbsbeiträge aus 16 Ländern bei der KME Germany AG in Osnabrück ein. So hatte die Jury Projekte aus Belgien, Dänemark, Deutschland, Frankreich, Großbritannien, Irland, Italien, Litauen, Luxemburg, den Niederlanden, Österreich, Polen, Schweden, der Schweiz, Spanien und Ungarn zu beurteilen. Neben drei gleichrangigen Architekturpreisen wurden zwei Projektpreise für Studierende vergeben. Darüber hinaus wurde noch eine besondere Anerkennung ausgesprochen. KME Germany AG — TAA07 Copper, more than any other building material, is brought to life by specific applications. It reflects the entire range of architectural issues: historical and futuristic, manual trade skills and technological progress – convention and innovation, technology and art, tradition and avant-garde. KME Germany AG meets in close dialogue with architects the constant challenges of facilitating and moving forward with new approaches in architecture. With the TECU® ARCHITECTURE AWARD 2007 we have once more enhanced this dialogue by actively promoting the innovative use of copper in modern building design. Architects and architecture students throughout Europe were once again asked to submit building and study projects that made use of TECU® products to compete in the TECU® ARCHITECTURE AWARD 2007. The response to the award was even more overwhelming than to the latest one in 2005. The works submitted impressed the jury by high quality and enormous variety. A total of 157 contributions from 16 countries were submitted to KME Germany AG in Osnabrück. The jury adjudicated projects from Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the UK. Besides three equal-ranking architecture prizes, the company also awarded two project prizes for students. One special commendation was also given. 3 4 KME Germany AG — TAA07 Architekturpreis 1. Preis A Einfamilienhaus im Tessin (Schweiz) Architekt: Davide Macullo, Lugano (Schweiz) Verarbeiter: Torsetta SA Lattonieri, Muralto (Schweiz) Das komplett mit TECU® Classic bekleidete Gebäude liegt in einem der sonnigsten Gebiete der südlichen Schweiz, auf einem bislang für landwirtschaftliche Gebäude genutzten Grundstück. Das Bauwerk ist eine Kombination aus mehreren kleinen Einheiten, die der natürlichen Hanglage angepasst positioniert sind. Das gesamte Ensemble ist von ländlicher Natur umgeben und wurde streng im Hinblick auf Nachhaltigkeit unter ausschließlichem Einsatz bio-ökologischer Werkstoffe realisiert. „Eine hervorragende und einzigartige Ergänzung zur Stein-Architektur der Schweizer Berglandschaft. Die Verbindung von Außen und Innen durch den Einsatz perforierten Kupfers ist vorbildlich gelungen.“ (Aus der Begründung der Jury) Architecture Prize 1st Prize A Single Family House in Ticino (Switzerland) Architects: Davide Macullo, Lugano (Switzerland) Contractor: Torsetta SA Lattonieri, Muralto (Switzerland) Located in one of the sunniest places of southern Switzerland, the house totally clad in TECU® Classic rises on the site where once rural constructions were. It is characterized by small monolithic volumes standing on the natural slope of the land and it is surrounded by nature. The whole construction has been realized according to the principles of sustainability by using bio-ecological materials. “An extraordinary and unique addition to the stone architecture of the Swiss mountain landscape. The connection between outside and inside is impressively solved by the use of perforated copper.” (Excerpt from the Jury’s appraisal) KME Germany AG — TAA07 5 6 KME Germany AG — TAA07 Architekturpreis 1. Preis B Theater in Vícar, Almería (Spanien) Architekten: Nicolás Carbajal Ballell, Simone Solinas, Gabriel Verd Gallego, Sevilla Verarbeiter: Metazinco, Madrid Das Theater der Stadt Vicar wurde mit einer beeindruckend lebhaften Fassade aus TECU® Classic, TECU® Brass und TECU® Bronze inmitten eines Ensembles öffentlicher Gebäude wie Schule, Rathaus, Gesundheitszentrum und Markthalle errichtet. Mit dem Projekt sollte der etwas willkürlichen Anordnung der bestehenden Gebäude eine liebenswürdige, den Bedingungen des Ortes entsprechende Lösung entgegengesetzt werden. „Ein Objekt von beeindruckender Schönheit und Eleganz. Die Fassadenlösung überzeugt durch Formensprache und ästhetisches, wechselhaftes Farbspiel der Oberflächen, wie es dem Werkstoff Kupfer entspricht.“ (Aus der Begründung der Jury) Architecture Prize 1st Prize B Vícar Theatre, Almería (Spain) Architects: Nicolás Carbajal Ballell, Simone Solinas, Gabriel Verd Gallego, Seville Contractor: Metazinco, Madrid The City of Vicar Theatre with its impressive and lively façade created by use of TECU® Classic, TECU® Brass and TECU® Bronze was built right in the middle of an ensemble of public buildings like school, town hall, health centre and market hall. A major ambition for the realization of this project was to set a counterpart to the unsatisfying positioning of the existing buildings and to create an admirable solution for the specific demands of the site. “An object of impressive beauty and elegance. The façade solution is fully convincing by formal aspects and by the aesthetic, ever changing colours of the surfaces – just like the essence of copper promises.” (Excerpt from the Jury’s appraisal) KME Germany AG — TAA07 7 8 KME Germany AG — TAA07 Architekturpreis 1. Preis C Info-Pavillon switch+, Münster (Deutschland) Architektur: modulorbeat, Münster Verarbeiter: rückwerk, Münster Für die international renommierte Freiluft-Ausstellung Skulptur Projekte Münster 07 entstand mit dem Info-Pavillon switch+ ein temporäres Bauprojekt, das durch seine allseitige Bekleidung mit der Kupfer-Aluminium-Legierung TECU® Gold interessante Bezüge zwischen direkter Umgebung und der eigenen Funktionalität herstellt. Mit Farbe, Materialität und ihren homogen verteilten Rundperforationen mit unterschiedlichen Durchmessern reagiert die Gebäudehülle auf das Ausstellungsdesign ebenso wie auf die benachbarten Fassaden. „Eine mehr als gelungene und sehr intelligente Lösung der gestellten Aufgabe. Der edle materielle Aspekt erinnert an ein fragiles Schmuckstück und kommt überraschend gut zur Wirkung.“ (Aus der Begründung der Jury) Architecture Prize 1st Prize C Info Pavilion switch+, Münster (Germany) Architecture: modulorbeat, Münster Contractor: rückwerk, Münster By realizing the switch+ info pavilion a temporary construction project has been specially created to mark the occasion of the internationally renowned outdoor exhibition Skulptur Projekte Münster 07. Impressively clad in copper aluminium alloy TECU® Gold, the building makes interesting references to its direct surroundings and its own function. With colour, materials and its evenly distributed round perforations of varying diameter, the building reacts to the exhibition design as well as to the surrounding façades. “A more than appropriate and very intelligent solution of a very special task. Here the noblesse of the material is reminiscent of a fragile piece of jewellery and gives an astonishing impression of beauty.” (Excerpt from the Jury’s appraisal) KME Germany AG — TAA07 9 10 KME Germany AG — TAA07 Architekturpreis Anerkennung Sporthalle in Sesto Fiorentino (Italien) Architekten: Fabio Capanni, Florenz Verarbeiter: In. G. Iovi S.R.L., Afragola (Italien) Die Sporthalle in Sesto Fiorentino bei Florenz kann als Hommage an Leonardo da Vinci verstanden werden, dessen Projekte immer auch von Beschaffenheit und Funktionen des menschlichen Körpers beeinflusst waren. Die mit TECU® Classic Kupfertafeln gestaltete Fassade soll hier an Muskelfasern erinnern. Mit der Wahl des Fassadenwerkstoffs wurde ein einzigartiger Effekt erzielt: Das Gebäude scheint wie ein menschlicher Organismus zu atmen. „Fast schon ein Kunstwerk, eine Fassade als Skulptur. Hier bestimmt das Material auf beeindruckende Weise die gesamte Architektur.“ (Aus der Begründung der Jury) Architecture Prize Commendation Gymnasium in Sesto Fiorentino (Italy) Architects: Fabio Capanni, Florence Contractor: In. G. Iovi S.R.L., Afragola (Italy) This gym on the outskirts of Sesto Fiorentino near Florence can be considered a tribute to the work and genius of Leonardo da Vinci, as each of his projects was inspired by the human body. The TECU® Classic copper plates covering the exterior make the façade look like muscle fibre. The choice of copper for the exterior is striking: due to the metal’s flexibility for forming and structurizing the building seems to breathe like a human organism. “Just like a piece of art, a façade shaped like a sculptural piece. Here the material is defining the architecture in an impressive approach.” (Excerpt from the Jury’s appraisal) KME Germany AG — TAA07 11 Projektpreis für Studierende 1. Preis A Theater der Magier in den Botanischen Gärten von Rom Entwurf: Sara Shafiei, University College London Für diesen Entwurf wurden Detailmodelle aus geätztem TECU® Brass gebaut, um die Anwendung des Werkstoffs an der Fassade zu verdeutlichen und die Gesamtwirkung des Gebäudes darzustellen. Die detaillierte Perforation der Fassade macht die Gebäudehülle zu einem Lichtfilter, der das magische Theater in der Hügellandschaft scheinbar glühen lässt und so die Besucher ins Innere lockt. Das Projekt soll unterschiedliche Ansätze der modernen Architektur kommunizieren und dabei einen reichhaltig strukturierten Stil zeigen, der Einflüsse des Barock mit den hoch präzisen Arbeitsverfahren des 21. Jahrhunderts kombiniert. „Kunst und Magie vereinen sich in diesem Entwurf zu einem höchst detailliert ausgearbeiteten Wagnis in Architektur. Ein höchst fantasievoller und tief beeindruckender Ansatz.“ (Aus der Begründung der Jury) 12 KME Germany AG — TAA07 Project Award for Students 1st Prize A Theatre for Magicians, National Botanical Gardens in Rome Layout: Sara Shafiei, University College London For this design, TECU® Brass is etched to create several detail models to illustrate the use of the material on the façade, and demonstrate the overall appearance of the building. The detailed pattering on the façade allows for light to filter through the skin, creating a ‘glowing’ magical theatre in the hills, enticing visitors inside. The project delves into the relationship of new architectural interventions in order to produce a style rich in textures, mixing baroque influences with the precision of 21st century modes of creating. “Art and magic are combined in this layout to offer a precisely detailed enterprise in architecture. A very impressive approach full of fantasy.” (Excerpt from the Jury’s appraisal) KME Germany AG — TAA07 13 7 Projektpreis für Studierende 1. Preis B Wohnanlage in Malakka (Malaysia) Entwurf: Andrea Brivio, Davide Conti, Fabio Galli, Galbiate (Italien) Der Entwurf der Wohnanlage umfasst 50 Einheiten auf einem vorgegebenen Grundstück von 40.000 m2. Unter Berücksichtigung der starken Regenfälle und intensiven Sonnenstrahlung in dieser Region waren langfristig schützende Werkstoffe für Dächer und Fassaden erforderlich. Mit dem Einsatz unterschiedlicher Paneele aus TECU® Patina und TECU® Brass wurde ein lebendiges Farbmuster erzeugt. Die Frontfassaden wurden mit Bambus gestaltet, um die natürliche Ventilation zu fördern. Zur Auflockerung des Fassadenbildes wurden auch hier TECU® Elemente eingefügt. „Ein hervorragend ausgearbeiteter Entwurf mit einem aufmerksamen sozialen Ansatz. Ein sehr gelungenes Beispiel für vorbildlichen Wohnungsbau auch unter problematischen Umständen.“ (Aus der Begründung der Jury) 14 KME Germany AG — TAA07 Project Award for Students 1st Prize B Residential in Malacca (Malaysia) Layout: Andrea Brivio, Davide Conti, Fabio Galli, Galbiate (Italy) This housing project was designed for 50 units on a given site of 40,000 square meters. Considering heavy rainfall and intense sun radiation in the area, a special building material for long time protection had to be chosen. By using different kinds of TECU® Patina and TECU® Brass panels, a colourful and lively pattern was created. On the front façade, bamboo facing is used in order to activate natural ventilation. The facade is split by TECU® elements. “An extraordinary detailed layout with a lively social approach.
