Let’s have a look… 1 2 3 Ich esse zum Frühstück 1 2 Zum Frühstück esse 3 ich (for breakfast) 4 Müsli 4 Müsli Have you noticed anything…? • Sentence 2 started with ‘Zum Frühstück’ • In sentence 2 the subject ‘ich’ and the verb ‘esse’ swapped places But why…..? This is because the VERB is always the 2nd idea in a sentence. An idea can be a word like ‘oft’ (often) or a few words like ‘Zum Frühstück’ or even a whole clause like ‘Wenn ich Zeit habe’ (when I have time) Now rewrite this sentence starting with ‘morgens’ 1 2 3 Ich esse morgens 4 ein Ei (in the mornings) 1 Morgens 2 esse 3 ich 4 ein Ei Kopiere die Adverben in dein Heft!
