In a competition, you can win two more weeks of work experience in Germany,
with travel and accommodation paid. To enter, write in German about your own
work experience.
Write at least 200 words in German. You could include:
 where and when you did your work experience; what the people were like.
 some things that happened.
 your opinion and reasons.
 whether you’ll work there again, as a weekend job or as a career. Explain why
(not).

Vor einem Monat habe ich für mein Arbeitspraktikum zwei Wochen in einem
Restaurant gearbeitet. Das Restaurant liegt in der Stadtmitte. Weil ich nicht weit
von der Stadtmitte entfernt wohne, konnte ich länger im Bett bleiben und ein
bisschen fernsehen. Der Arbeitstag hat um neun Uhr begonnen und hat um vier
Uhr geendet.
Es war eine tolle Erfahrung, weil meine Kollegen alle freundlich und hilfsbereit
waren. Am ersten Tag habe ich Tische abgeräumt und sauber gemacht und das
war langweilig, aber am zweiten Tag konnte ich Kunden bedienen oder manchmal
an der Kasse arbeiten. Am besten war Mittwoch, weil wir Sonderangebote für alte
Leute hatten und sie waren alle sehr nett zu mir.
Die Arbeit hat mir gut gefallen, weil mein Chef wirklich sympathisch war.
Ich habe einen Samstagsjob im Restaurant bekommen, aber in zwei Jahren
werde ich auf die Uni gehen, um Geologie zu studieren.

Examiner’s commentary
At Grade A ideas and points of view should be expressed and explained. There
should be a variety of vocabulary, structure and verb tenses and there should be
an overall impression of grammatical accuracy.
Points of view are expressed and explained, for example: “Es war eine tolle
Erfahrung, weil ….”, “Am besten war Mittwoch, weil …”.
More complex structures are developed, for example: “Weil ich nicht weit von der
Stadtmitte entfernt wohne, konnte ich …”, “... aber in zwei Jahren werde ich auf
die Uni gehen, um Geologie zu studieren”.
Different tenses are used including: the perfect tense with a separable verb: “…
habe ich abgeräumt”, an inseparable verb: “… hat mir gut gefallen”, the imperfect
of a modal verb: “… konnte” and a future tense in the last sentence.
A comparative form is used: “länger”.
